Kamuzu Academy Hosts A Successful 2026 Careers Fair

Kamuzu Academy successfully hosted the 2026 Careers Fair on Saturday, 14 March 2026, bringing together universities, education consultants, and professional bodies to guide students as they plan their future academic and professional pathways.

The event, organized by the Kamuzu Academy Careers Department, aimed to expose Form 5 and Form 6 students to a wide range of higher education opportunities and career options available both within Malawi and internationally. The fair also welcomed top-performing students from surrounding schools, creating a broader platform for young learners in the Kasungu and Mtunthama area to benefit from the engagement.

Universities in Attendance

Several leading Malawian universities participated in the fair, providing students with information about their programs, admission requirements, and campus life. The participating universities included:

  • University of Malawi (UNIMA)
  • Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS)
  • Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHES)
  • Catholic University of Malawi (CUNIMA)
  • Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST)

University representatives interacted directly with students at exhibition stands, answering questions and providing guidance on course selection and career pathways.

International Education Opportunities

Education consultants also attended the fair to inform students about opportunities to study abroad. These organizations assist students with university applications and scholarship opportunities to institutions in Asia, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and across Europe.

The consultants present included:

  • Mtendere Foundation
  • ConnectED
  • Satguru Education Consultants

Their presentations provided valuable insights into international admissions processes, scholarship opportunities, and preparation for studying overseas.

 

Professional Career Guidance

In addition to universities and consultants, several professional bodies delivered informative presentations about careers in specialized fields. Students gained firsthand knowledge of the requirements, responsibilities, and opportunities associated with various professions.

The professional organizations represented included:

  • Malawi Engineering Institution
  • Medical Council of Malawi
  • Malawi Law Society
  • Malawi Defence Force

These presentations helped students understand the professional pathways available after completing university education.

Participation from Surrounding Schools

The careers fair also welcomed top-performing students from several secondary schools in Kasungu and Mtunthama, including:

  • Loyola Jesuit Secondary School
  • Chayamba Secondary School
  • Kasungu Nkhamenya Girls Secondary School
  • Rock Foundation Private School
  • Mlare Private School
  • Liness Chagwamjira Private School
  • All Saints Mtunthama CDSS

Each school sent a delegation of high-achieving students who actively engaged with exhibitors and presenters throughout the morning.
