GREATNESS

We often measure our existence in terms of greatness and for the positive things we lean towards greatness. We may say that Winston Churchill was a great orator or that Tchaka Zulu was a great warrior. And as we grow up, we aspire to be great leaders, great footballers, great scientist, etc. However, greatness is one of those things that are achieved using paradoxical routes. Mother Tereza was arguably one of the greatest people to have walked the earth. She took the route of being a servant to the poor. Martin Luther King Jr left one of the most powerful leadership legacies in a violent world. He adopted a non-violent reaction to violence. Although he is known more for non-violence, he is quoted to have said that “Everybody can be great…because anybody can serve.” For you to be great, you do not cry for recognition. Go down and serve others. Help the helpless, give to those who cannot give back, chat with the unloved…. Think about how you can serve, without necessarily thinking of greatness. Have a blessed day.
