What a truly outstanding Sports Day at Kamuzu Academy!
We are incredibly proud of the spirit, determination, and talent displayed by all our athletes. The day was filled with excellent individual and team performances, showcasing the depth of ability across the school.
A special highlight was the breaking of four KA's records, a remarkable achievement that reflects the hard work and dedication of our students:
🏆 Otti Evance set a new Sports Day and School record in the Junior Girls High Jump, surpassing a record that had stood for 36 years, previously set by A. Kaitano.
🏆 Fortune Madeya broke the Junior Boys Discus Sports Day record, which had been set in 2021 by Gift Chikaonda.
🌟 The standout performer of the day was Wongani Khunga, who delivered an exceptional display by breaking two historic records:
The 3000m record, originally set in 1983 by Chikunkha Soko
The prestigious Borthwick Mile record, which had remained unbroken since 1982 (A. Khuwi)
Individual certificates were awarded at the end of the event in recognition of these excellent performances.
We now look forward to announcing the overall winners next week, following the completion of the remaining track and field events.
A big thank you to all students, staff, and supporters who made the day such a success. The future of sport at Kamuzu Academy is bright! 💪🏽🏅
